Welcome to a typical winter’s day at Umkumbe Bush Lodge. Although not set in stone, this is what you can expect.
A knock on the door at 6:00 heralds the start of the day. Wasting no precious exploration time, the safari vehicle will be ready to depart half an hour later. Layer up with a beanie, scarf and warm jacket. Be sure to rest up for the second game drive at 16:00. Sometime during each drive, your guide will make a quick stop for refreshments – coffee or tea in the morning and sundowners in the late afternoon.
Amidst all the excitement, it's also important to find moments of relaxation. Our Tree House and deck, are perfect for kicking back and absorbing the African ambience. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in the comfort of the warm eating lounge.
To end the day on a high note, we gather in the traditional boma, a reed-fenced enclosure surrounding a cosy fire pit for dinner. This is the time to reflect on the day’s adventures with your safari companions while indulging in a delicious three-course dinner, featuring buffet-style main courses.
Our routine is designed to enhance your safari experience while considering all guests.
However, we understand that everyone has their preferences during their vacation. If you would, for example, like to skip dinner for an early night, simply inform your guide.
