The Tree House
Dubbed ‘The Tree House’, the main communal facility is built around an ancient Weeping Boer-Bean. Overlooking a variety of habitats, the raised deck area is ideal for spotting game as they traverse the winding drainage line or cool down at a nearby watering hole. Adjacent to the deck is a lapa (a traditional thatched-roofed structure), an inside lounge and bar, and an outside swimming pool area.
Eating Lounge
Satisfy the appetite you worked up after your early-morning game drive with breakfast at the eating lounge. Breakfast is served continental style with additional fry-up options. Lunch is also served here, buffet style. The eating lounge borders The Tree House, so feel free to take a seat outside and feast alfresco style.
Reed-Fenced Boma
Traditionally referring to a livestock enclosure, the word ‘boma’ is borrowed from the Swahili language. Today, the use of bomas for gatherings is quintessential to the safari experience. At Umkumbe Bush Lodge, we let you in on this cultural tradition. After the evening game drive, guests gather in the boma, exchange chronicles of the day and dine under the African stars.
